Description: | The work will focus on determining a methodology for translating the multitude of individual failure mode risks to a single metric that expresses the overall risk of the respective design or process. The student will need to understand how the D/P-FMEA tools work, how different designs and processes are evaluated and make critical decisions as to how to express the different risk profiles in a consistent and simple manner. The results of the work will be used to then associate newly described risk of designs and processes to product warranty costs. |
Other information: | Suitable for backgrounds in Mechanical or Materials Engineering. Knowledge of Wind Energy Systems preferred but not required. |
